Yamaha fans may be anticipating an announcement from World Superbikes rider Ben Spies that could see two-time Superbike world champion James Toseland dropped from MotoGP.
The rider told Motorcycle News that his future is in the hands of Spies, as Yamaha have offered the racer a place in MotoGP. If he takes up the offer, it will mean no British riders in the championship, Toseland added.
"I'd be bitterly disappointed - I believe the challenge is do-able," he commented, after failing to achieve higher than sixth place in the GP over the last two years.
"Over the last 18 months I've given it my best shot, as I always do, and things haven't gone as well as I'd have liked," Toseland added.
The 28-year-old is set to take part in the forthcoming championship leg in Portugal this weekend, following which he celebrates his 29th birthday.
According to the news source, the rider has been linked to a potential move to the Pramac Ducati team.
Bike insurance policyholders may be dismayed to find no Britons representing their team in the championship.
Toseland currently sits in 13th place in the overall standings.
