Honda is poised to release its latest V4-powered machine into the market.

The motorcycle manufacturer is set to keep bike insurance policyholders waiting for a few more days before the VFR1200F is finally unveiled.

Bikers anticipating the launch are being invited to take part in a competition in the meantime that could see them win a test ride on the new model when the media take it for a spin during a special event.

Next week will see Honda release the official pictures and specification of its latest offering, coupled with films, animations and 360 degree views of the model in a dedicated area of website feelv4.com.

But interested parties can enter the competition to ride the bike now, until October 16th.

Under the deal, one lucky biker will attend the exclusive media test ride event in southern Spain in November.

Commenting on the introduction of the VFR1200F into the UK market, Honda Motorcycles general manager Steve Martindale said: "There's been so much speculation and anticipation surrounding Honda's new V4 powered machine and we're very pleased that the wait is nearly over for this truly superb new bike, which will be revealed next week, and then be available early next year."

He went on to say that rumours have abounded that the new model is to replace some of Honda's other machines, but these are unfounded and the firm would like consumers to view the model as a standalone machine in order to do it justice.

"It's a totally new breed of machine in terms of performance, engineering and style, we're confident motorcyclists who enjoy bikes with incredible looks, a sportier ride, larger-capacity and great touring capability will not be disappointed," Mr Martindale added.

The model is to be the show-stealer at the forthcoming Tokyo Motorcycle Show, which runs between October 24th and November 4th.

Honda have previously confirmed that the offering is a sport tourer rather than a superbike and features its own dual clutch transmission system, with the gearbox being the first of its kind for large displacement sports models, Cycle Canada reports.

According to Honda, the new transmission offers easy operation of their model combined with a sporty riding experience and greater efficiency.

It also provides precise acceleration control that helps motorcyclists achieve seamless gear changes.

The new system is set to be introduced on sportier models for the firm's 2010 range.
