Dangerous motorcyclists have received warnings for their anti-social riding in Middleton and Belle Isle.
During a recent police operation, one rider had their machine confiscated after they were found to be without bike insurance, while many more received warnings for riding dangerously.
Officers were joined by council representatives for the recent campaign, which saw off-road bikes used to catch criminals using machines illegally or in an anti-social manner.
Sergeant Paul Denison of the Rothwell Neighbourhood Police Team commented that local people have told officers they are fed up of nuisance bikes.
"The best way to tackle these problems is to seize the bikes from those responsible and crush them if they cannot prove they are insured or if they are being used illegally," he stated.
Sergeant Denison added that these large operations are more hard-hitting because they send a clear message to criminals that the grief they cause will not be taken lightly.
In related news, a new team has been established in West Yorkshire to investigate fatal road traffic accidents.
Figures from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents highlight that bikers make up just one per cent of road traffic but account for one in seven fatal accidents.
