Motorcyclists becoming increasingly safe riders are helping to reduce the costs of bike insurance, it has been reported.
According to financial news website Thisismoney.co.uk, the changing face of biking has reduced the cost of cover by an average of 15 per cent over the last five years.
The website claims that motorbike policies are now as varied as car insurance, with optional extras covering accessories or third parties.
Dave Woodbridge is a 42-year-old biker who rides every day to work in Norfolk, where he works as an IT consultant.
He told the news source he owns a Triumph Trophy 900 and a Suzuki DR 600. He is also restoring a Suzuki RG500 and was surprised to find insurance to cover all three machines.
"Many insurers would not give me a quote for the RG500 because of all the modifications," he explained.
In related news, 500 motorbike fans gathered last week for the Suzuki Hayabusa's tenth birthday in Santa Pod.
Riders at the Northamptonshire strip were invited to take part in drag racing and try out the latest machines during the celebrations.
