Brad Pitt may be making a bike insurance claim following an accident in Los Angeles last weekend.

The Hollywood actor was swerving to avoid a photographer's car when he clipped a nearby vehicle's rear view mirror and came off his machine.

After dragging his bike off to the side of the road, an uninjured Pitt stopped the damaged car's driver to swap insurance details.

The Daily Mail reports that the Ocean's Thirteen star was left waiting by the side of the road for his assistant to arrive with a pick-up truck, after discovering the motorcycle was unfit to ride home.

The custom-built bike was snapped being carried away from the scene in the back of a van.

Quoting an interview with US magazine W, the newspaper claims Pitt has described riding his motorbike as an escape from the pressures of fame.

Brandishing his motorcycle helmet, the 46-year-old actor reportedly said: "This is my anonymity."
