Action needs to be taken to cut the number of motorists and bikers injured or fatally wounded in one Welsh county, an MP has stated.
Bike insurance policyholders might want to take extra care in Powys as Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has said that the location saw more serious or fatal accidents than anywhere else in Wales throughout last year, the BBC reports.
The Liberal Democrat MP called upon the government to introduce transport policies that take into account factors such as the changing ways in which roads are used.
"Here in Powys we have some very difficult and complicated roads which even experienced drivers can find treacherous in poor conditions. These roads are even more dangerous for people on motorbikes," he commented.
A Welsh Assembly spokesman told the BBC that road casualty figures have shown a decline of nine per cent across Wales in the last year.
"In Powys, road casualties show a decrease of 13 per cent from last year and a five per cent decrease in motorcycle casualties," he added.
According to government figures, motorcyclists make up less than one per cent of vehicle traffic but account for 14 per cent of serious injuries and deaths on UK roads.
