An event to highlight the consequences of illegal riding has hammered the message home to bikers in Doncaster.
Police teamed up with the local council's environmental health team to send a group of seized motorbikes to be crushed after their owners failed to adhere to the rules of the road.
The Star reports that a number of machines seized during a police operation from nuisance riders were taken to the crusher at Doncaster Motor Spares.
According to the publication, crushing the bikes aimed to highlight that riding bikes illegally - such as in public spaces or without bike insurance - can lead to the machines being seized and destroyed.
Public areas can include parks, footpaths and playing fields, with riders expected to have documentation for their vehicles to show they can legally ride it and that it is taxed and insured.
Recently, police took steps to crack down on nuisance riders in the Birkenhead area of Merseyside after residents raised concerns the bikers were using their machines in public areas not safe for motorbikes to use off-road.
