Filmstar Brad Pitt joined countless other bike insurance policyholders when he crashed his motorcycle recently.

The thespian was attempting to ride away from photographers in LA last month when he was involved in the minor accident.

Pitt has commented that while he sustained no injuries from the mishap, he has suffered a bruised ego.

"No injuries, except my ego," he said recently.

"I was trying to get away from some paparazzi and instead gave them a good story. It was my favourite bike, so that is really sad."

The keen rider is now scouting for a new machine to replace the ruined model.

Currently in Tokyo following the premiere of his latest film Inglourious Basterds, Pitt has said he will take the opportunity to look at the craftsmanship of Japanese motorcycles.

"You've got some of the best builders right here," he commented.

The 46-year-old has a vast bike collection, including models such as the Ducati Desmosedici RR, a number of Harley-Davidson choppers and a Monster 696.

Earlier this year a customised chrome bike was unveiled at his home in LA.

Pitt has previously commented that he enjoys the anonymity motorcycling affords him.
