The latest motorbike sale from leading vehicle auction firm British Car Auctions (BCA) was a record-breaking success.
According to the firm, customers snapped up 203 bikes, scooters, quads and mopeds, suggesting the recession has encouraged buyers to be more resourceful about where they look for a bargain.
Bike insurance customers may have been among the 150 registered bidders who competed to go home with their dream machine.
A total of 172 motorbikes were sold on the day, with sales totalling around £300,000.
Among the highlights of the auction was a 2007 Harley-Davidson Soft-tail deluxe in black and white, which sold for £11,100 and exceeded its guide price by 23 per cent.
Other strong sellers included a Harley-Davidson XDB Street Bob at £7,300, a £4,850 Triumph Daytona 675 Triple Black and Gold and Honda CBR RR 1000 Fireblade sold for £6,050.
Commenting on the results of the sale, Tim Naylor, BCA's PR manager, said: "The two-wheel market is very strong and our monthly sales at Peterborough have gained a big following of buyers."
The firm has two further upcoming events before Christmas on November 27th and December 11th.
In related news, motorcycle training bodies have merged to form the Motorcycle Industry Trainers Association in a bid to provide a more unified voice in the sector.
