Bike insurance customers with an eye for new technology may be excited to hear engineers have created what they say is the world's first street-legal electric motorbike.
According to German technology firm Grace, the bike is the toughest electric machine yet, with parts brought from fighter planes and Formula One cars.
Handmade at the company's studios, the bike's handlebars feature everything an eco biker would need at their fingertips, including lights, battery management and an alarm system.
With a 1.3KW electric motor, the e-motorbike can offer a street-legal top speed of 45 kph, rising to 65 kph on the racetrack.
"E-motorbikes can go as fast as e-scooters or smaller e-motorcycles, but in contrast to these two categories they are much smaller and lighter and can be taken into trains, cars or even aircraft without a bigger effort," explained a statement released by the company.
As it is powered by a single lithium-ion battery, the machine can be recharged in just an hour using an ordinary mains socket.
Customers hoping for a quirkier look than that of the silver display model can choose from three different bike frames in more than 64 colours.
In other biking news, Honda has unveiled details of its all-new Shadow RS machine, designed to meet the needs of riders of all levels of experience.
