Riders looking to stay safe on their machines and avoid bike insurance claims may want to invest in new headgear, as safety ratings have just been released for 25 helmets.
The Department for Transport's Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme (Sharp) has now assessed 175 helmets, with the results published by road safety minister Paul Clark.
Among the headgear most recently rated is the Arashi Phantom and Steel, both of which received four stars, while the Fusion Tranz and G921 2 took one and two stars respectively.
Commenting on the latest publication, Mr Clark said that 50 lives could be saved every year if bikers wore the safest helmets on offer.
He went on to say that he hoped bikers attending the forthcoming Bike Show would take the time to visit Sharp's stand.
"By providing the best safety information through Sharp, reminding drivers of the importance of looking out for bikes and promoting further training and safe riding through the THINK! Motorcycle Academy, I hope we can make the roads safer for motorcyclists and reduce the number of tragedies we see on the roads each year," the minister concluded.
Bike insurance policyholders considering investing in a safer helmet can make their way to Birmingham's NEC Arena and visit the Bike Show's Sharp stand between November 27th and December 6th.
