Yamaha pleased with podium finish
The Yamaha Motor Germany team is pleased with its recent performance in round two of the Supersport World Championship in Phillip Island, Australia.
In spite of Yamaha's rear end traction problems, which lead to Honda's Sebastien Charpentier taking the win, Kevin Curtain and Broc Parkes both demonstrated the improved speed of their new R6 bikes.
Parkes was able to set a new lap record third time round, while it was a tense contest between Curtain and Charpentier throughout.
While Charpentier succeeded in pulling ahead in the closing stages, the Yamaha team took both second and third place, with Curtain now just ten points behind Charpentier's championship lead.
The Yamaha team were please to have two men up on the podium, but said they were now looking forward to round three in Spain's Valencia.

Team manager, Terrell Thien, said: "The early season results have gone well for us."
However, he added that entering the European stage meant the riders "must now target race wins".
The Yamaha team will now have the opportunity to acquire new parts prior to riding Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit on April 23rd.
