In news that could interest motorbike insurance policyholders, a disabled cancer survivor is planning an epic motorcycle journey around the UK's coastline.
Rob Edwards, 51, beat three different types of cancer four years ago and is undertaking the 3,500-mile motorbike journey from December 23rd to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Christie Hospital, reports the Macclesfield Express.
The keen biker, who lives in Macclesfield and works as a marine engineer at Macclesfield Canal Centre, will leave from North Wales and will ride a Kawasaki 650 for the duration of the ten-day trip over the Christmas holiday.
Mr Edwards told the paper: "This trip will be uncomfortable and difficult. While everyone is snoozing by the fire after a huge Christmas lunch, I could be battling through a snowstorm in Scotland."
He added that he is prepared to give up Christmas for the cause due to his own experiences with the disease, which include losing his sister and father to cancer in the past.
Mr Edwards' motorcycling experience includes winning a range of motocross races and performing with a stunt team.
In other motorcycling news, people riding motorcycles at Canvey Pick in Essex run the risk of having their motorbikes confiscated and crushed by the police, according to the Echo.
