Stage of motorcycle trials world championship to be held at Lochaber

In news that could interest motorbike insurance policyholders, Lochaber in Scotland is to hold a stage of the motorcycle trials world championship each year for the next three years.
The event will be held on June 25th to the 27th and is likely to attract around 8,000 spectators as 60 of the world's best riders come to the region from 15 different countries in the first time a grand prix event has been held in Scotland for nearly 20 years, reports the Press and Journal.
Lochaber is already renowned for its motorcycling events as it holds the Six Day Motorcycle Trials, while the Trial des Nations team event will be held at the nearby Nevis Range.
The Trial des Nations holds particular significance as the event has never been held on the UK mainland before and it is considered the highlight of the global motorcycling calendar.
Collectively, the various motorcycling events could help stimulate the Scottish economy as it recovers from the recession, especially given the global standing of the competitions.
In other news, motorcycles used by the West Midlands Ambulance Service are among the range of vehicles that have been fitted with a new digital radio system in order to improve communication both in the West Midlands and throughout the country, according to a report from the Kidderminster Shuttle.
