In news that could be of interest to motorbike insurance policyholders, a series of motorbike seizures have been carried out by police in West Lothian to stop motorcyclists damaging beauty spots.

Ten off-road motorbikes were seized and an additional 15 motorcyclists were issued anti-social behavioural orders, meaning their motorcycles will be seized if they are caught riding in beauty spots again, reports the Scotsman.

Rogue off-road riders have been causing problems in areas such as the Fauldhouse forest path network and the Benhar and Falla Hill forest areas, prompting police to launch Operation Fiesta earlier in the year in order to clamp down on the activity.

PC Alistair Byiers, the Fauldhouse community beat officer, told the paper: "We looked at other forces in the UK to see how they dealt with it and came up with our own approach mixing prevention with education."

He added that rogue riders are often pursued by police officers on motorcycles, quad bikes on in 4x4 vehicles, while local residents are also being encouraged to report people who are riding illegally.

In other news, the West Midlands Ambulance Service has installed a new digital radio system on a range of its emergency vehicles, including motorcycles, according to a report from the Kidderminster Shuttle.
