Bike insurance policyholders with a green conscience may be interested to read that Italian factory CRP Racing will unveil its electric motorcycle today.
The firm is set to showcase its e-motorcycle at the Birmingham NEC Arena today as part of the Cleaner Racing Conference, organised by the Motorsport Industry Association.
The two-wheel eCRP 1.0 boasts a strong racing look yet produces no harmful emissions. The model has been created for teams planning to take part in the zero emissions TTXGP 2010 series.
Races will take place in the UK, US and Italy, with the finals being held in Spain.
According to the firm, "the combination of CRP and TTXGP shows the real benefit of working together to progress innovative technology and at the same time bring the first eGrandPrix to Italy".
The machine has a top speed of 180 kilometres (km) per hour and offers a range of 40 km depending on the track conditions.
In the UK, the races will take place at Cadwell Park, Snetterton, Castle Combe and Brands Hatch, with the championship concluding on October 3rd.
The Italian leg will run throughout June, July and September, with the series taking place throughout May, July and August in North America.
