A renewed design critic has praised Honda's VFR 1200 as artistic and striking.
Bike insurance policyholders may be in two minds about the new model's controversial styling, but Stephen Bayley has suggested the machine is a taste of the future in the present.
Writing in Motor Cycle News, the critic suggested Honda has made an investment in art with the model.
"Possibly deliberately, it looks bigger than its predecessor. Undeniably, it is striking," he commented.
The critic went on to say that Honda has provided consumers with technologically-pleasing models for more than 50 years and has now added "delectable sculpture" to its repertoire.
"In future all bikes will become more visually sophisticated. The VFR1200 is the future now," Mr Bayley concluded.
Honda has said its VFR1200F incarnation will be available early this year at a price of £11,475.
The model will be officially launched on Valentine's weekend, with the manufacturer suggesting the machine will set "a new era in the development of motorcycles", just as its Fireblade did 18 years ago.
It is set to utilise race track technology to provide enhanced levels of feedback and control for bike insurance policyholders and is fitted with a brand new UNICAM 1237cc V4 engine.
