Bike insurance policyholders in Gloucestershire may be among the motorcycle riders who fear the county's potholes put them and their machines in danger.
A number of motorists have told ThisisGloucestershire.co.uk that potholes in the county are hazardous and of particular concern to motorbike riders.
John Luff, who commutes from Charfield to Stroud's BVM Moto motorcycle shop on his BMW 1200GS, told the website that there is a particularly bad pothole between Horsley and Dursley.
He commented that "if you go to put your foot down at the junction, you will fall off, there's nothing there".
Meanwhile, boss of Haines & Co Motorcycles in Cinderford Anthony Moore added that there is danger "particularly for smaller bikes like mopeds and scooters, as they have small wheels which can easily drop into a hole and cause a rider to come off".
A council officer commented the authorities are trying to deal with the potholes, which have increased in number since the cold weather set in and potentially resulted in increased numbers of car and bike insurance claims.
Duncan McClure Fisher of Warranty Direct recently commented that many people are reporting having to replace their tyres as a result of pothole incidents during the winter months.
