The benefits of becoming a bike insurance policyholder could be outlined to youngsters in Northampton in the near future with the approval of a bikers' park.
Council planners are advising that proposals go ahead for a site in Wellingborough where young people can ride motorcycles legally.
Currently, the plot of land earmarked for use at the site is being used illegally by youngsters who want to ride their machines. The park will be converted into a training school rather than a track where the youngsters can freely practise, the Northants Evening Telegraph reports.
"The users of the proposed facility will be professionally supervised and will only be allowed to use safety-tested motorcycles provided by the organisation which will run it," the publication cites plans as saying.
Some residents have complained that the site could result in the congregation of youths and is too close to housing.
But resident Mick Foster of Butts Road, Wellingborough, told the publication the centre will be supervised, which will be better than young people left to ride around making a noise and not wearing helmets.
The Northern Echo recently reported that police were working to remove illegal bikes from the streets of Edmundbyers and Stanhope after complaints flooded in from residents.
