Scarborough to hold motorcycle safety day

Bike insurance policyholders looking for feedback on their riding skills can have heir habits reviewed as part of a motorbike safety event in Scarborough.
The borough's DW Motorcycles will host the safety day, which brings together a number of organisations including North Yorkshire Police Road Policing Group, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, the Scarborough Institute of Advanced Motorists North and North Yorkshire county council's road safety division, the Scarborough Evening News reports.
Police will be attending with a motorcycle that has been involved in a crash to highlight the road dangers faced by bikers, while a Highway Code Quiz will run for the duration of the event.
"Depending on road conditions on the day, riders will have the opportunity to go for an observed ride with a police motorcyclist, or an observer from the Institute of Advanced Motorists," commented officer Dave TC Burlingham, of the Scarborough Road Policing Group.
Two officers will be giving attendees a talk on safe riding and road safety and motorcyclists will have the opportunity to join the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
Transport for London recently announced that a best practice guide for safe motorcycling is to go online in the near future following a European summit on the issue.
