A best practice guide to safe motorcycling will go online in the coming weeks after an agreement was forged between a number of European cities.
Bike insurance policyholders may be interested to read the information is being put together following a meeting of representatives from Paris, Barcelona and Rome, as well as officials from the UK's Transport for London.
The representatives attended the two-day summit eSUM (European Safer Urban Motorcycling) earlier this month and attendees overwhelmingly agreed that the web-based guide should be published.
It aims to provide vital information for engineers and road designers with regards to motorcycle safety and could also help riders avoid bike insurance claims if extra measures are taken to enhance their road-going wellbeing.
Also discussed at the event was the mayor's trial of motorcycles in bus lanes, with delegates being shown the safety initiatives already in place throughout the capital via taxi motorbikes.
In related news, a bike safety day is being held on Saturday in Scarborough to educate riders of the risks they face and pose on the road.
Riders at the event will be able to have their skills assessed by a representative of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
