A motorcycle dealership has appealed to older bike insurance policyholders with the launch of Honda's latest VFR1200 model at the store.

Doble Motorcycles in Brighton Road, Coulsdon, launched the machine recently at a party in which the model was wrapped up and placed on top of a cherry picker outside the shop.

The Croydon Advertiser reports that more than 250 people attended the event and were treated to fish and chips wrapped in old copies of Motorcycle News.

Partners at the store Mike Doble and Paul Styles said there had been tremendous interest in the model.

Mr Doble commented the bike is likely to appeal to those over 40.

"We expect considerable interest from what we say are 'born-again bikers'," he said, adding: "It is enthusiasts of that sort of age who are returning to biking who have the money these days."

Mr Doble went on to say that he believes the bike will help foster recovery within the market.

The model, described by Honda as having sleek lines and style, will retail from £12,000. The manufacturer suggests the machine marks a new era in the development, engineering and styling of motorcycles, as the Fireblade did almost 18 years ago.
