Bike insurance policyholders looking forward to the planned charity ride around the Isle of Man TT course may have been disappointed to hear the run has been cancelled.

Isle of Man Today reports that the charity event, which was scheduled to take place on February 27th, has had to be put off.

Organisers decided to postpone the ride because of the bad weather forecast.

Douglas Rotary Club, which planned the event, said the weather threatened to disrupt the ride, which was supposed to have taken place at 10:00 GMT at the TT Grandstand.

"It is a shame because word had gone round well but we will rearrange it perhaps for a month or two later," a spokesperson from the club told the publication.

Bike insurance policyholders may be even more disappointed as the event was hoped to set a record for the highest number of machines riding out on the mountain course.

Meanwhile, Honda recently reported that actor Danny John-Jules, who plays The Cat in TV series Red Dwarf, and endurance rider Graham Hoskins have teamed up for a charity motorcycle ride in aid of Sports Relief.

The duo will travel 7,000 miles in 15 days.
