Almost £3 billion is added to the UK economy each year thanks to the motorcycle industry, new research suggests.
Motorbike insurance customers could be among those helping to boost the state of the economy by taking to two wheels.
According to the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI), which is this year celebrating its centenary year, there are numerous benefits brought to the country as a whole as a result of the sector.
Research conducted for the organisation found that the British motorcycle industry employs more than 62,000 people and has a sales turnover of more than £5 billion each year.
However, the association does not intend to rest on its laurels. Instead, it is continuing efforts to boost the number of riders present in the UK through schemes such as the Get On campaign, which has reportedly encouraged some 7,200 more people to take to the saddle.
Spokesperson for the industry Steve Kenward said: "The MCI has always had a role to play in protecting, promoting and expanding the industry on behalf of its members and during our centenary year we will be focussing on these three major areas."
The industry association represents more than 125 member companies from the supply side of the industry.
