The number of people investing in eco-friendly scooters could be set to increase following the news that famous DJ Scott Mills has taken receipt of an electric scooter.

Mills may be doing his bit for the environment with the model from e-motive, but there are a number of other benefits to running such a bike, the manufacturer suggests.

Utilising a bike can mean shorter commutes through the traffic and less noise as well as massive monetary savings.

"I recently gave up my car as I found owning one in London was completely pointless," the DJ commented.

"The e-motive seemed like an obvious choice for me because it has all the benefits of a regular scooter but without the noise and pollution."

Priced at £2,999, the e3 model could be the best choice for bike insurance policyholders looking for a purse-friendly means of transport that also enhances their eco credentials.

The scooter can be charged at a generic plug socket in around four hours and provides70 miles on a single charge, achieving speeds of up to 55 miles per hour.

A cheaper alternative is also available in the form of the e1, which achieves speeds of up to 40 miles per hour and can cover 50 miles on a single charge.
