Kind-hearted bikers are preparing to climb atop their motorcycles and travel to Africa for a good cause.

Riders for Health and Yamaha have teamed up for a raid entitled Ride for Life, which will help health workers in North Africa by providing them with a fleet of five Super Teneres to help them carry out their vital work.

Bike insurance policyholders from the general public are being invited to join the group of Dakar veterans and journalists, with five places available on the raid depending on a rider's experience and motivation for the event.

Yamaha Motor Europe's division manager Arno Sunnotel said the manufacturer is proud to be supporting the work carried out by Riders for Health.

"We hope our Super Tenere bikes can contribute to make a difference to many hundreds of people who are currently without access to the medication they need to stay healthy," he added.

The Ride for Life begins in Paris on May 4th and will pass through Lisbon, Portugal and Morocco before coming to its destination in Zambia.

Riders for Health will be able to use the machines to help ensure the efficient detection and diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other diseases.

The charity recently announced it will auction off two pairs of grid passes donated by MotoGP for the MotoGP races at the British MotoGP at Silverstone on June 20th later this year to raise money for its work.
