Last weekend's racing activities at Brands Hatch saw the HM Plant Honda team achieve success with a win and a podium finish.

Steve Plater secured the opening win of the National Superstock 1000 Championship after running in second for much of the event before leader Glen Richards high-sided out of the first place spot.

The racer beat the previous Brands Hatch Superstock lap record by a whole second.

Meanwhile, in the British Superbike Championship, Ryuichi Kiyonari finished second in the opening race but had to retire from the second race with ignition problems, leaving him fifth overall.

Commenting on his performance, the rider said he was disappointed with his last laps.

"In the second race I really wanted to challenge for the win, but we had an ignition problem and I had to stop. Of course I am disappointed but now I am looking forward to Thruxton and try to get the win there," he stated.

Teammate Josh Brookes failed to set the hearts of on-looking bike insurance policyholders alight when he finished race one in fifth place before crashing out of contention in the second event.
