Police in Devon has got a new weapon in the fight to enhance the safety of motorcyclists in the area - more bikes.
Officers from the region's motorcycle division have been loaned two high performance machines for six months to help police appeal to riders about safety issues, the Express and Echo reports.
According to the publication, the models will be used to attract the attention of keen riders at functions and help spark a conversation about road safety.
Officer Paul White said riders of sportsbikes are statistically more likely to be involved in serious incidents.
"These riders are historically also harder to target to deliver the safer riding message that the police are trying to get across," he said.
Once drawn in, the riders will be advised on defensive styles that could enhance their safety and also reduce their chances of having to make bike insurance claims.
Riders wanting to learn more about becoming safer on their machine could always attend this year's BikeSafe event in Sheffield this June.
The show will provide bikers with an opportunity to have a free ride alongside an advanced police motorcyclist.
