Local businesses in Staffordshire recently teamed up to promote the safe riding message to motorcyclists.
Bike dealers and a pub joined forces in the Burton area to offer riders advice that could help enhance their safety and potentially reduce bike insurance claims.
Burton Watch manager for the local fire service Ian Pullen told Staffs Live that he hoped by educating riders and asking them to take some simple safety steps, the number of fatal accidents involving motorcyclists could be reduced.
"It's great that the local bike dealers and the pub where motorcyclists congregate have agreed to support us and the biking community with this initiative," he added.
Meanwhile, Kevin Wilcox, road safety officer for Staffordshire county council, said that bikers are a great concern to the authority.
"They continue to represent a disproportionate number of those killed or seriously injured on Staffordshire's roads every year," he stated.
April marks Bike Tyre Safety Month and riders are being reminded more than ever of the need to make sure their machines are roadworthy and their wellbeing is protected.
As part of the safety drive, riders are being offered free tyre checks at a number of dealerships nationwide.
