New site for safe biking
A new website has been launched in response to the number of deaths associated with motorcycling accidents on the roads of Lancashire.
The website, which has been set up by the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety together with the county's Safety Camera Partnership, was partly designed by John McGuiness, a sport bike rider from Morecambe.
Also backed by the police, it is hoped that the website will encourage bike riders to stop inappropriate speeding.
There is also a forum where bikers can discuss road safety tips and general riding skills.
Motorbike Insurance - Fantastic Quotes
Linda Sanderson, working with the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety, told website Ride Safe Back Safe: "The aim is to provide north-west bikers with an informal and friendly environment where they can not only pick up safety tips but give the benefit of their experience to other, less experienced riders."
Last year 22 motorcyclists were killed on the roads of Lancashire, compared to nine in 2004.
Furthermore, an additional 150 bikers were left seriously injured as a result of an accident on a public road.
"Bikers really need to be careful on the roads. We must stem these dreadful figures," concluded Mr McGuinness.
As well as being good for your health, safe riding can also help keep your wallet well. The less likely you are to have an accident the more likely you are to receive a cheap motorbike insurance quote.
