A biker from Surrey has been selected from more than 1,000 applicants to take part in Yamaha's Ride for Life charity run.

The project will see seven riders go on a journey to North Africa to deliver bikes that will be used by the country's Riders for Health workers.

Jonathan Geoffrey of Richmond in Surrey has been selected as one of the riders who will the trip that will see the bikers deliver five new Super Teneres to the vital workers, who require reliable transportation to be mobile when their services are needed.

The rider is likely to need a thorough bike insurance policy to cover his trip, which will see the motorcycle fan travel from Lisbon to Portugal and then on to Marrakech.

Commenting on his selection, Mr Geoffrey said he was in a state of disbelief when told the news.

"Once I'd confirmed it by looking online, I was elated and on the phone calling all my mates to let them know my exciting news," he said.

"Over the next few days it slowly sunk in what lies ahead and if anything, my excitement is growing as I learn more."

The journey begins later this month.
