British motorcyclist Spencer Conway has resumed his trip around Africa for charity after being robbed for a second time and having to wait on spare parts.
The 42-year-old from Kent embarked on his circumnavigation on November 1st last year in aid of Save the Children.
However, the rider has encountered a number of pitfalls during his journey, for which he is likely to be grateful for his bike insurance policy.
As well as being stoned by locals when passing through Egypt, the motorcyclist was shot at by bandits in Kenya and robbed in Nairobi, before more recently being robbed again on the border of Namibia while waiting for waiting to obtain a visa.
The rider then had to wait for vital spare parts for two weeks and deal with an electrical fault with the help of a local mechanic in Congo.
Despite the problems, the biker is now back on track and has managed to raise £22,000 for Save the Children so far.
"I had to psychologically change my maxim 'day by day, border by border' to kilometre by kilometre' and eventually to 100 metres by 100 metres'," commented the rider, who will now travel to Cameroon having already journeyed more than 20,000 miles.
The biker will travel across 32 countries and cover more than 60,000 kilometres for the charity.
