Motorcyclists considering investing in a new Yamaha YZF-R1 may be even more inclined to do so now the firm is offering a pair of carbon sleeved Akrapovic cans free with the vehicle.

All customers who purchase the model from participating dealerships will be eligible to receive the cans, which are worth more than £1,000, for free.

According to Yamaha, riders will "really be able to appreciate the unique sound of the bike's crossplane crank and uneven firing order - true music to one's ears", with the free accessory.

The manufacturer added that the bike collected a number of awards last year, including Motor Cycle News' machine of the year.

"It's a machine that makes all riders feel great", Yamaha commented, going on to say that the model enhances rider confidence and gives them a level of control that other superbikes cannot.

Earlier this month, the brand launched a range of accessories for its FZ8 and Fazer8 ABS models to allow riders to customise their machines and express their individuality.

Products include screens, a seat cover, roller protectors, an engine guard and passenger grab bars.
