The recent crash involving HM Plant Honda team rider Steve Plater may have left many bike insurance policyholders concerned about the team's chances in the upcoming TT.

But their fears may be allayed with the announcement that Scottish racing ace Keith Amor is to stand in for the injured rider, who suffered a broken arm at the North West 200 event.

The 38-year-old Scotsman will ride a Fireblade in the Superbike and Senior TT races alongside 15-times TT winner and team member John McGuinness.

He commented that the situation seems surreal but he is nonetheless honoured to be participating in Plater's place.

Amor added that the HM Plant Honda Fireblade "is arguably the best bike out there" and said he is looking forward to practicing on the model and enjoying riding.

Manager of Honda (UK) Racing, Neil Tuxworth commented that the team has "complete confidence in Keith's ability and hunger to perform at the TT".

Plater's arm is said to be healing well after being operated on in Derry. He sustained the injury during the practice session for the 200 event and was unable to take part in the races themselves.
