Motorcyclists thinking of investing in a second-hand Norton Commando model might want to run their eyes over a guide to purchasing the vehicle first.

Author Peter Henshaw, who was the editor of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure for five years, has penned Norton Commando - The Essential Buyer's Guide, to help riders ensure they go about making their purchase in the right way.

The writer has previously written more than 30 books, ten of which were about bikes.

The book is not designed to suggest colour combinations or analyse the model's design, but it seeks to help riders avoid buying a model that may not be as good a bargain as it seems, potentially resulting in bike insurance claims for its new owner.

Among the topics covered in the publication is which model is the best for user's needs, spares prices, restorations, paperwork and auctions.

"Benefit from Peter Henshaw's years of experience; learn how to spot a bad Norton Commando quickly, and how to assess a promising one like a professional," comments publisher Veloce.

The publication is available priced at £9.99. Other motorcycle-related books from the author include The Encyclopedia of the Harley Davidson, a guide to buying the BSA Bantam and an illustrated history of the Vespa.
