Bike insurance policyholders rooting for Honda at this year's Isle of Man TT may be excited to read that Michael Rutter will be competing for the team this weekend.
Nicknamed The Blade, Rutter made his debut at the TT in 1994 and has reached the podium nine times in total.
He will be standing in for injured Steve Plater, who sustained a broken arm after crashing at the recent North West 200 event.
Fans' favourite Rutter, aged 38, will be number 16 when he rides for the HM Plant Honda team in the Superstock race, but will also take part in the Superbike and Senior TT races on a privately entered Honda.
The West Midlands' rider said he has good memories from riding for Honda in 2005, when he scooped third place in the British Superbike Championship and also won a Superbike race at the North West 200.
He added: "The Fireblade and the HM Plant Honda team are the best out there so with that package my plan is to go out and try to secure a podium finish, for my own satisfaction and to also repay Honda and the sponsors for this opportunity."
