Second in the overall British Superbike standings, Josh Brookes is set to race for the HM Plant Honda in the next rounds of the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Brookes will replace injured Steve Plater at the superstock event, which takes place at Silverstone in two weeks' time in front of hundreds of excited bike insurance policyholders and fans.

The Australian biker said he sympathises with fellow racer Plater, who crashed in Northern Ireland at the North West 200, breaking his arm and a bone in his neck. The racer underwent a successful operation recently and has since gone home.

"We know the HM Plant Honda Fireblade Superstock machine is a proven race winner as Steve showed that before he was injured so I want to go out and do the best job I can for the team and Steve," Brookes commented.

He added that he will give his all to the two superstock races and then go for victory in the Silverstone round of the British Championship, with the events taking place on June 19th and 20th.

The racer added that he intends to get "really fired up" and wants to put on a show for the crowds present.
