HM Plant Honda rider Josh Brookes has made history by being the first to win on the all-new arena circuit at Silverstone.
The racer beat off contenders in the final lap of the National Superstock 1000 Championship race, coming up against Sam Warren, Glen Richards, Howie Mainwaring, Jon Kirkham and Simon Andrews.
Brookes described the lap as exciting and fun, swapping places with other bikers all the way round the track, much to the potential delight of on-looking bike insurance policyholders.
"On the last lap there were a few moments and I think that was my fastest lap of the race so that shows how hard we were pushing, but also how good the Fireblade is as well," he commented.
The rider went on to take the top spot in the second race at the circuit and is now in fifth position in the championship.
Brookes' BSB crew chief Chris Pike said the rider had achieved a fantastic result, crediting the racer as well as injured Steve Plater, who set up the bike before he was replaced.
Plater has undergone four operations since being injured during a crash at the North West 200 road race in mid May, where he broke two vertebrae.
