The winner of Yamaha's Demonstrate, Evaluate, Celebrate test ride promotion has been named as Steve Randall from Dorset, who has won himself a YZF-R1 bike.

In addition to the motorcycle, Mr Randall also scooped an AGV Rossi replica helmet, an all-access pass to the British round of MotoGP and a set of custom Yamaha Dainese leathers after he took a test ride on one of the models.

Bike insurance policyholders were invited to test any of their machines over the last three months to be in with a chance of winning the prize.

The architect, originally from Essex, commented that he thought the letter from Yamaha confirming his win was a joke at first.

"I have a number of bikes in the garage but tested the R1 and loved it. Little did I know that I would win one," he said.

The bike was specially designed to commemorate Yamaha's three World Championship wins last year, with all the graphics hand-painted.

Riders are currently being given the chance to win a Yamaha WR250R ridden by four-times World Speedway Champion Barry Briggs when they donate £100 or more to the rider's Sport Relief cause.
