MC5 bassist breaks spine in motorbike smash
Michael Davis, formerly the bassist for rock group MC5, has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.
The musician crashed his Harley Davidson, when it collided with the exhaust muffler from the vehicle in front, which had fallen off.
Mr Davis would certainly have been killed had he not been wearing his crash helmet.

He is in hospital being treated for a fractured spine, broken ribs and serious abrasions to his back and legs.
The chances of him recovering sufficiently of him recovering sufficiently to perform at the "Joey Ramone birthday bash" on May 12th are minimal.
The Harley Davidson has one of the best records for safety of any motorbike; insurance premiums tend to be lower as they age well and, with a wide centre of gravity, are involved in few crashes.
