Motorcycle insurance policyholders may be among those lucky enough to get their hands on a limited edition Icon Sheene model - made as a tribute to British world champion motorcycle racer Barry Sheene.

The model, a 250bhp ultrabike capable of speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, is designed to celebrate Barry's life, which came to an end in 2003 when the former world champion died of cancer.

With its ability to accelerate from nought to 60mph in two seconds and from nought to 125mph in six seconds, the Icon Sheene is not for the faint-hearted.

The motorbike boasts a modified Suzuki GSX1400 turbo, a bespoke Derbyshire-built Spondon frame, competition suspension, forks, brakes and wheels.

Just 52 models will be produced - one for every year of the racer's life - and with a £107,000 price tag, the Icon Sheene may be just outside of many motorcycle insurance policyholders' budgets.

The model was launched at Goodwood Festival of Speed, on the weekend of July 2nd-4th, where lucky spectators had the chance to meet Sheene's team-mate Steve Parrish and the bike's creator, Andrew Morris.

Barry Sheene was awarded an MBE in 1978 for services to motorcycle sport following his world championship wins in 1976 and 1977.
