Motorcycle insurance policyholders who are fed up of the stressful commute should try travelling to work on two wheels, a poll by Motorcycle News has suggested.

To coincide with National Ride to Work Day, the poll revealed that less than one in five car drivers feel enjoyment, happiness or experience an adrenaline rush behind the wheel compared with almost two-fifths (38 per cent) of motorcyclists, the Telegraph reported.

Nearly one in three (29 per cent) of car motorists admitted to wanting to swap four wheels for two, while ten per cent feel stressed about driving a car because of a previous traffic accident, which may have resulted in them having to make a claim on their insurance.

According to the newspaper, a further 20 per cent of respondents said they drive more erratically when travelling by car and nearly a quarter (24 per cent) admitted to giving in to road rage on car journeys.

Motorcycle insurance policyholders can also save money by taking their bike to work, as the Get On website's calculator will show. Users will be able to log on and analyse their yearly travel costs including tax, parking and car insurance payments to see whether they would be financially better off travelling by motorcycle.
