Motorbike enthusiasts may be pleased to hear that the legendary race circuit Donington Park is set to re-open its doors to motorcycle insurance policyholders with a track day next month.
The east Midlands track has not been in use since last September, when former leaseholder Simon Gillett was unsuccessful in his attempts to hold the British Grand Prix there.
His company did not manage to obtain the financial backing necessary to upgrade the circuit, which went into administration late last year.
But its new leaseholders are set to welcome back motorcycle insurance policyholders with a double event organised by Focused Events on August 21st and 22nd.
The organisers claim that Donington "is all about the corners", boasting turns and twists that will "take your breath away".
Motorcycle insurance policyholders can find fuel and food available on site and will have use of full pit garage facilities "as you would expect from a Grand Prix circuit". Tickets cost £159 for each day.
Steve Whatton, operations director for leaseholders Adroit Group, told the BBC earlier this month: "You don't often get the chance to take over an international venue like this with the heritage it has got."
He added that it would be great to have the big bikes events back at the track, but not until Donington is ready for them.
