Motorbike display at the Herts show

Anticipation is building ahead of this year's Hertfordshire County Show, which will be staged at Redbourn on Saturday May 27th.

Final preparations are being made for the 120th annual show, the theme of which, this year will be "Fun and Education in the Countryside".

Once again there will be an eclectic mix of traditional and more modern activities and attractions.

Once again, music will be provided by the Army Air Corps Marching Band.

The countryside activities will include more than 1,300 animal exhibits in the competitive classes including sheep, cattle, show jumpers and the ever-popular small animal marquee.

This year's main attractions include the Herts Farmers' Flying Forktrucks race, Heavy Horse Musical Drive, a falconry display, a parachute display team, a sheep shearing show.

However the flagship attractions are without a doubt the Devil's Horsemen Wild West Show and a motorbike display.

The latter was almost cancelled last year when the motorbike insurance provider threatened to refuse to cover the event, because of the perceived risk involved.

Show secretary Mike Harman said: "The interest and support for this year's show has beaten all previous records. With trade stands fully booked since March and advance tickets currently 70 per cent higher than last year, we anticipate close to 30,000 show visitors.
