Mini-bikes spell court for parents
The Suffolk Free Press has reported about the growing menace of miniature motorbikes, ridden by children without supervision.
If they are ridden on public roads, they must be registered, taxed and the driver (regardless of age) must have valid motorbike insurance.
David Forrest, head of Sudbury Upper School, reported extensive damage to the school's playing field, caused by the tyre treads of the bikes.

"We were asked for permission to use the field, which is private land, but had to refuse because we would have to take liability for accidents. It also cuts up the grass which causes problems for sports.
"I caught one youngster riding there and as soon as he saw me he sped off towards Springlands using footpaths and roads, so he was then breaking the law," he added.
The police assert that very often parents purchase the bikes as they would a toy, without thinking responsibly about the consequences.
This is despite strict and clearly marked manufacturers' guidelines which say they should only be used off-road and under strict supervision from an adult.
