McGuinness setting TT landmarks
Tourist Trophy (TT) rider John McGuinness goes into Friday's Blue Riband Senior race on the verge of history, as he chases his 11th TT victory following victory on the Isle of Man.
McGuinness grabbed victory in the midweek when he finished 8.9 seconds ahead of second-placed Ian Hutchison (who was later disqualified on a technicality) and his average speed during the second lap reached an incredible 123.975mph.
It was his tenth victory in ten years of TT racing - a remarkable achievement that McGuinness himself recognised the momentousness of, announcing with tongue in cheek: "That's ten TT wins now - I'm getting up there with the greats!"

He added earnestly: "We had changed some engine components and we had also changed the gearing on the bike before we went out, so to a certain extent I had gone out there hoping for the best.
"But I had a great first lap and from then on I knew it was going to be good. It was a really tough race though because I had to push so hard, all the way to the end."
Meditating more seriously on his groundbreaking feats, the 33-year-old Morecambe-born racer said he was simply happy to register a triumph on Wednesday, although he admitted that "to set some new records along the way is a nice bonus".
Wednesday's win put McGuinness level on TT wins with Stanley Woods and Giacomo Agostini and a further victory on Friday would make him the joint-third most successful TT racer of all time, along with Phillip McCallen and Steve Hislop.
