FEMA appoints new general secretary
The Federation of European Motorcycles Associations (FEMA) has selected a new general secretary, to take up her position as of this September.
Elected by the federation's constituent groups, Aline Delhaye has been a biking enthusiast since youth - taking her first trip on a motorcycle in her father's backpack when she was only a few months old and having been riding herself for 15 years now.
As a citizen of Brussels she is ideally situated for her role, which involves representing motorcyclists' interests in relation to the EU - a responsibility made all the more important by FEMA's efforts to renegotiate unfavourable terms for bikers in the third European driving licence directive.

FEMA president Kees Meijer claimed of Ms Delhaye's appointment that it is "always good to now and then have someone new in an organisation, asking more questions than there sometimes are answers available".
He explained: "It ensures that we not only question measures that are taken outside our federation, but also keeps us focused on what we do ourselves. And she does so from a rider's perspective, which she obviously is. I'm looking forward to working together."
Equally fitting for someone serving a multinational organisation, she has a degree in translation studies, visited Canada, Spain and Russia during her studies and can speak several languages, including English.
