Rossi claims victory at Sachsenring
Valentino Rossi grabbed his fourth win of 2006 by a mere fracture of a second at the German GP this weekend, as he edged a little bit closer to the top of the table.
Rossi enjoyed a strong start to the race, making up for an average qualifying position to storm in front on lap 13, only to lose the lead to Marco Melandri with two laps remaining.
However, with just one lap to go he outmanoeuvred Melandri and retook a tight lead that he managed to maintain from a chasing pack also including Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa, winning by just 0.145 seconds.

Victory at Sachsenring meant that Yamaha rider Rossi has now moved into second spot in the overall standing, three points ahead of Pedrosa and just 26 behind Hayden.
The Italian said after the race: "Once I got to the front I knew I was probably two or three tenths [of a second] faster than the other guys but it wasn't enough to escape and I had to battle with Dani, Nicky and Marco - each one was a great fight."
Hayden's ubiquity on the podium continued as he took third place, but having led the race early on only to eventually lose out by a quarter of a second, the American was dissatisfied with the outcome.
Melandri on the other hand was far more upbeat after the race and having managed two second-placed finishes in a row he is now fourth overall and just 35 points from the top.
