Politicians back Ride to Work
The head of a pro-motorcyclists group of politicians has voiced his support for a national event encouraging people to go to work by motorcycle.
Shadow minister Bill Wiggin announced his support for Ride to Work Day, claiming that it was indicative of the benefits that taking up motorcycling can have for a commuter, as well as praising the Motor Cycle Industry Association for trying to make biking more "mainstream".
He was speaking in his capacity as chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Motorcycling Group, an alliance of around 70 MPs and peers across the political spectrum that strives to maintain the place of motorcycling and bikers' interests at the heart of the agenda.

Mr Wiggin explained: "Ride to Work Day promotes the diversity of motorcycling and the many benefits associated with riding on a bike or scooter, not least the congestion busting and journey time-reducing potential of motorcycling in congested urban areas.
"It is important that we keep motorcycling on the political agenda as they have an important role to play in the transport system and can offer some practical solutions, as well as being a cost-effective and fun way to travel."
Ride to Work Day takes place on July 19th and promotes the benefits that motorcycles, mopeds and scooters bring, including their capacity to cut journey times, congestion and pollution, as well as the lower costs and greater flexibility they can offer.
