Catalonia casualties hope for return to form
Ducati riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau are hoping to put the crash that derailed both their seasons firmly in the past with good performances at this weekend's US GP.
Capirossi was joint overall MotoGP leader and Gibernau in ninth going into the Catalan GP, but mayhem erupted on the first corner of that race when the latter rider's bike flipped over and unseated several other bikers as well, Capirossi included.
The Italian has taken part in the three subsequent GPs but has only accumulated 19 points since then, falling to fifth in the standings, although he says he is now on the mend and is looking forward to this weekend's race at Laguna Seca.

Capirossi commented: "In Germany last week I was maybe 85 per cent fit and I will be even stronger for this race.
"I am very happy to be returning to Laguna Seca. The track is so good, so technical and now that they have made some more changes to improve safety it will be even better."
Gibernau meanwhile sustained a fractured collarbone and only returned for the last race in Germany, but he enjoyed himself on his previous outing on this course and hopes to be in decent enough shape to race well there this coming weekend.
"The team is working so well with me that I believe we will be able to have some fun but much will depend on the condition of my shoulder," he said cautiously.
